How do I disconnect my bank account?
You can disconnect at any time through the Plaid Portal — this isn't done in the Flex app.
- Go to the Plaid Portal (→ my.plaid.com) and sign in, or create a free account if you don't have one yet.
- On the Overview tab, select Flex from your list of connected apps.
- Scroll to Manage connections and select Disconnect app.
- Select the financial institution you want to disconnect, then select Disconnect to confirm.
If you’re not able to remove a connection via Plaid Portal, you can submit a Privacy Request Form.
Once disconnected, Flex won't receive any new information from that account. You can always reconnect later if you change your mind.
Can I disconnect Plaid and keep using Flex?
Yes. Disconnecting a bank account doesn't affect your ability to use Flex — it won't prevent you from using Flex in the future.
Does disconnecting also delete my data?
No — these are two different things:
- Disconnecting stops Flex from receiving new information going forward. It doesn't remove data that's already been shared.
- To request your data to be removed from Plaid's systems, submit a Privacy Request Form or email Plaid directly at privacy@plaid.com.
- If you'd also like data already shared with Flex removed from our systems, follow these steps to delete your Flex account.
If I delete my Flex account, will my Plaid connection be disconnected automatically?
No. Deleting your Flex account doesn't automatically disconnect Plaid — you'll need to disconnect separately using the steps above. See How to delete your Flex account for full account deletion steps.
