Some properties don’t use an online rent portal. If you normally pay rent with cash, check, money order, Zelle, Venmo, or another direct method, you can still use Flex Rent.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Sign up and select your payment method
- During sign-up, you’ll be asked how you usually pay rent.
- If you use a rent portal: We recommend paying with the Flex bank account through that portal.
- If you do not use a rent portal: Flex will prompt you to enter your property manager’s contact information so we can invite them to join Flex.
Step 2: Invite your property manager (for customers without a rent portal)
- Flex sends your property manager an invite to join.
- It’s free for them and only takes a few minutes to set up.
Step 3: Property manager completes setup
- Once they accept, Flex connects directly to their bank account.
- We’ll notify you in the app once setup is complete.
- You can also send reminders if they haven’t accepted yet.
- If they have questions, they can explore our Help Center for property managers to learn more.
Step 4: Rent paid through Flex
- Each month, after your 1st payment goes through, your full rent is paid directly to your property manager’s bank account through Flex.
-
The transfer usually arrives within 2 business days, though in some cases it can take up to 3–5 business days.
Important: To use Rent for the current month, both your approval and your property manager’s setup must be finished by 5 PM ET on the 4th. If setup happens later, Flex will start with the next month’s rent.
