Overview
Flex Rent lets you split your rent into two smaller, easier payments.
How Flex handles your rent depends on your property type:
- Integrated properties – Flex Rent connects directly to your property, either through a rent portal or your property manager. In most cases, your rent charges flow into Flex automatically, and are paid through Flex without you needing to take extra steps.
- Not integrated properties – Flex Rent isn’t connected to your property or rent portal. You can still use Flex, but you’ll need to take a few extra steps each month.
Integrated properties
A property is considered integrated if Flex Rent is connected in one of these ways:
- Through a rent portal – Flex can automatically see your rent bill and submit rent through Flex for you.
- Through your property manager – If you pay rent by Zelle, check, or money order and you and your property manager signed up for Flex Rent, we’ll send your rent directly to their bank account each month (after your 1st payment is complete).
With integrated properties, Flex handles most of the process automatically. If an issue comes up (like a mismatch in your rent bill), you may need to confirm details in the app.
Non-integrated properties
A property is considered not integrated if Flex Rent can’t connect to your rent portal or property manager. In this case, Flex provides a unique bank account or debit card to use when submitting your rent. Each month, you’ll:
- Enter your rent amount in the Flex app.
- Use the Flex bank account or debit card to pay your rent in your portal.
- Your 1st payment will be charged automatically.
How to know if your property is integrated
Your property is integrated if:
- You found and selected your exact property and unit during sign-up, or
- You invited your property manager to Flex (for rent paid by Zelle, check, or money order) and they completed setup. Flex now sends rent directly to their bank account.
Your property is not integrated if:
- You manually entered your property address during sign-up, and
- You were instructed to use a Flex bank account or debit card to submit rent through your portal each month.
