Why late fees can happen

Late fees are most often caused when your 1st payment to Flex is delayed, usually because:

• There weren’t enough funds in your linked debit card to process the payment, or
• You completed your 1st payment after your property’s late fee deadline

Flex can’t start submitting your rent until your 1st payment is complete. So if that payment is late—even by a day—your rent may be submitted too late, and you’ll be responsible for any fees your property adds.

If late fees are charged, they’ll be included in the total amount Flex pays on your behalf.

When Flex will cover a late fee

Flex will only reimburse a late fee if the delay was caused by us. This is rare, but may happen due to:

• A technical issue between Flex and your rent portal
• A Flex system error after your 1st payment was already processed

If this happens:

• We’ll still submit your rent using Flex’s payment method once your 1st payment is successful
• We’ll notify you via email, push, or in-app if we detect a delay on our side
• If the delay is confirmed to be caused by Flex, we’ll reimburse the late fee

We’ll review your account and, if it was our fault, we’ll reimburse any late fees you were charged.
