What is bank verification?
When you add the Flex provided bank account as a new payment method in your service provider’s website, they may ask you to verify the account before you can use it.
Verification simply means confirming the account belongs to Flex and can process payments. Depending on your provider, this can happen in different ways:
- Micro-deposits: Small, temporary amounts sent to the Flex provided bank account.
- Codes: A short number or letter combination the portal provides.
- Plaid Instant Verification: The fastest method, where you connect the Flex account using your routing and account numbers.
This step is usually required only once when you first add the Flex provided bank account — not every month.
Steps to verify a Flex provided bank account
Step 1: Add the Flex provided bank account
- Log in to your service provider’s website.
- Go to the Payment Methods section.
- Add the Flex provided bank account details.
- Your portal will then trigger one of the verification methods (micro-deposits, codes, or Plaid).
Note: The verification method is set by your service provider. Not all providers support Plaid, and you may only see one option.
Step 2: Complete the verification
Follow the process based on your portal’s method:
Option A: Micro-deposits or codes
- Your provider will send the verification (small deposits or a code) to the Flex provided bank account.
- Because the account belongs to Flex, the details are sent to us first.
- Once we receive them, we’ll email the information to you.
- This process can take up to 3 business days.
After you get the email from Flex:
- Log back into your provider’s website.
- Go to the Payment Methods section.
- Enter the exact verification details.
- Once accepted, your Flex account is verified.
Option B: Plaid Verification
- On your service provider’s website, select Plaid Verification (if available).
- Search for “Flex” in the Plaid list of banks.
- Select Flex, then enter the routing and account numbers from your Flex app (Home tab).
- When you receive the verification code, return to your provider’s website and enter it to confirm.
⏱️ Verification can be completed within minutes, but it may take up to 1 business day. If you need to leave your portal while you wait for the verification code to enter, Plaid will send you a message to finish the process after you receive it.
Step 3: Verification complete!
Once you’ve successfully entered the verification information or connected through Plaid, your Flex provided bank account is verified and ready to use for bill payments.
