How It Works
Here’s how Flex works and what you need to know to keep everything running smoothly:
With Flex, you can pay your rent in two payments each month using a credit line:
- 1st Payment: Due when your rent is due.
- 2nd Payment: Due on the 15th of the month, or whenever you reschedule it.
- Monthly membership fee of $14.99 will be automatically collected on the 15th of every month.
Grace Period and Payment Attempts
You have until 3pm ET on the 5th of the month to add enough funds for your 1st payment. If the payment isn't ready by then, Flex won’t be able to be used, and your credit line could be put on hold. In that case, you’d need to pay your landlord directly.
But no worries! Flex will keep trying to process the payment until it succeeds or until the deadline at 3pm ET on the 5th. You can also manually pay in the app before the deadline if you prefer.
How to Reschedule Your 1st Payment
- Open the app and head to your home screen.
- Tap on your 1st payment, and you'll see the option to Reschedule.
- Choose a new date.
- Once you've selected your date, simply click Confirm.
Once confirmed, your payment date will be updated, and Flex will process your payment on the new date for that month.
Rent Autopay Settings
When autopay is on: Flex will automatically attempt to process your 1st payment starting on the last day of the month (for example, July 31st for August’s rent). If funds aren’t available, we’ll notify you and try again daily until it’s successful, or until the 3pm ET deadline on the 5th. You can also manually retry a missed payment through the app.
When autopay is off: You’ll need to manually process your 1st payment. Just make sure it’s done by 3pm ET on the 5th. Flex will still automatically collect your monthly membership fee on the 15th and your second payment on your selected date.
To check to your rent autopay settings, follow these steps once you open the Flex app:
- Go to the Settings tab
- Tap Rent and Payments
You should be able to view whether your autopay is toggled on or off!
Important Reminder
If you need your rent paid by a specific date, make sure your 1st payment is available on time. Flex can only process your rent once the 1st payment is settled. For example, if your rent is due on the 3rd but your 1st payment isn’t processed until the 4th, Flex won’t be able to pay your rent until then. This is important if your property charges late fees. You’ll be responsible for any fees if your payment isn’t processed before the fee is applied.
