Note: This article applies to customers who pay their bill using a Flex provided bank account or a Flex provided debit card. If Flex handles your bill directly, your bill amount is pulled automatically from your service provider and cannot be updated manually.
You pay your bill using a Flex provided bank account
If your bill amount changes, you must update your estimated bill amount in the Flex app before submitting your payment.
Always confirm the correct amount due with your service provider before making changes.
How to update your estimated bill amount:
- Open the Flex app.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Tap Bills and payments.
- Tap Estimated bill.
- Enter your new estimated bill amount.
- Tap Save.
Important: Updating your estimated bill amount in Flex does not submit your payment. You are responsible for manually submitting your bill payment to your provider each billing cycle.
If the amount you submit to your service provider does not match the amount entered in Flex, your 1st and 2nd payments to Flex may be adjusted, or the payment submitted to your provider may be canceled.
You pay your bill using a Flex provided debit card
If your bill amount changes, you can update your estimated bill amount directly in the Flex app before starting your payment. You can do this from two places:
From the home screen:
- Open the Flex app.
- On the home screen, tap your displayed estimated bill amount in the top right corner.
- Enter the updated amount.
- Tap Save.
From the Make Payment flow:
- Open the Flex app and tap Pay Now.
- On the Confirm Payment Schedule screen, update the pre-filled bill amount before confirming.
- Your updated amount will be saved automatically when you confirm.
Important: Make sure you update your estimated bill amount before confirming your payment schedule. Once your 1st payment is processed and your Flex card is unlocked, the spending limit on your card is based on the amount you confirmed.
If the amount your service provider charges is higher than your card's spending limit, your payment may be declined. Learn more about why your bill payment attempt may be declined.
