How Flex Payment Fees Work
Flex makes it easy to make your payments using a debit or credit card. Just a heads-up: bank transfers (ACH) aren’t a supported payment method at this time.
A small fee is applied each time you make a payment. This helps us continue improving the product and service experience.
- If you pay with a debit card, there’s a 1% bill payment fee.
- If you pay with a credit card, there’s a 3.5% total fee, which includes both the bill payment and credit card processing fees.
These fees are charged by Flex and apply to each payment. Rather than charging the full fee all at once, Flex spreads it across your two payments—so you’ll see part of the fee added to each payment amount.
For example, if your rent is $1,000:
- With a debit card, the total fee would be $10 ($1,000 × 0.01, or 1% of $1,000).
- With a credit card, the total fee would be $35 ($1,000 × 0.035, or 3.5% of $1,000).
Here’s how those fees would appear when split across two payments:
Payment Method | Fee Description | Payments | You Pay |
If using a debit card | 1% bill payment fee only (no card processing fee) |
1st payment | $505.00 |
2nd payment | $505.00 | ||
Membership fee | $14.99 | ||
If using a credit card | 3.5% total fee (includes bill payment + card processing) |
1st payment | $515.00 |
2nd payment | $515.00 | ||
Membership fee | $14.99 |

Where to View Your Payments
You can track both upcoming and completed payments directly in the Flex app:
- From the Home screen, you’ll see the current month’s payments—both settled and scheduled. Tap on any payment to view more details.
- For a full breakdown, go to Settings > Payment Schedule. This section shows the amount and due date for each payment, along with any fees that were applied.
Overdraft Fee Tip
It’s also important to check if your bank charges overdraft or insufficient funds fees, and how those might apply. To avoid being charged overdraft fees, we recommend turning overdraft protection off through your bank.
