Your Flex Bills credit line lets you split your bill into a 1st and 2nd payment. This article explains how much of it you can use, and what happens once your bill amount is confirmed.
Adjusting your payment split You can choose how much of your bill to put toward your 2nd payment, up to your credit line — that extra room is there in case your bill goes up in the future. But your 2nd payment can never be more than 50% of your actual bill, even if your credit line is higher.
Splitting your bill this way doesn't change the total amount you owe — it only changes how much goes to each payment. Since a smaller 2nd payment means you're borrowing less, the fee for splitting your bill (sometimes called a split fee) will be lower too, not higher.
Once your actual bill amount is known:
- If the amount you selected is already 50% or under, it stays the same
- If it's higher than 50%, it's automatically reduced to 50% — and the remainder shifts to your 1st payment
Example: Your estimated bill is $100 and your credit line is $70, so you set your 2nd payment to $70. If your actual bill comes in at $100, your 2nd payment is limited to $50, and your 1st payment becomes $50 instead of $30. If your bill had gone up instead — say, to $200 — you'd be able to use more of that $70 credit line toward your 2nd payment, up to 50% of the new amount.
Flex will always pay your full bill as long as your 1st payment is successful — your credit line doesn't affect how much Flex pays your provider.
