How to Turn On Rent Autopay
To turn on rent autopay or restart Flex’s service, follow these steps:
- Open the Flex app.
- Go to Settings > Rent Autopay.
- Toggle Rent Autopay ON.
If autopay turns on successfully, you’ll see a confirmation message in the app and get an email. If you can’t turn on autopay due to your account status, Flex will email you a letter of adverse action explaining why. Learn more about account suspensions.
How Autopay Works
When autopay is on, Flex handles your rent payment automatically. It starts by trying to process your 1st payment, beginning on the last day of the month. If the first attempt fails, Flex will retry up to six times until the 3 PM ET deadline on the 5th. If all six attempts fail, you’ll need to make the payment yourself in the Flex app before 3 PM ET on the 5th.
Once your 1st payment is successful, Flex will submit your rent for you. You don’t need to take any action unless Flex notifies you that a manual step is required to complete the process.
Select Autopay On/Off
You can select whether to enroll in autopay during your onboarding process or update your autopay settings in your Flex app at any time.
When to Turn On Autopay
To make sure Flex automatically submits your rent for the current or next rent cycle, turn on autopay by 5 PM ET on the 4th. If you turn it on later, it might not start until the next rent cycle.
Example: To use Flex for August rent, turn on autopay by 5 PM ET on August 4th. If you turn it on after that, it won’t start until September.
You can still use Flex without autopay. Learn more about using Flexible Rent with Autopay Off.
